Facebook – No Longer #2

This from TechCrunch:

It was sort of inevitable given Facebook’s monster growth over the last few years, but April 2008 was the milestone: Facebook officially caught up to MySpace in terms of unique monthly worldwide visitors, according to data released by Comscore … Both services are attracting around 115 million people to their respective sites each month.

I’ve been telling those who attend my class to not even bother with MySpace and to focus on Facebook (unless they’re teen or children librarians) – and now I have numbers to back up my personal preference 🙂

  1. …or musicians! 🙂

  2. As a result of this post, I finally went and joined Facebook! It’s something that I’ve been meaning to do for awhile. I had hesitated because I wasn’t sure how public I wanted to make my life. However, if you’re not public nowadays, you’re basically invisible. I’ve also begun a blog today as well!

The funny thing is that I’ve found a number of people in both my present and past on Facebook, although this shouldn’t be that surprising to me. I’ve read a lot about the success of this social networking tool and it’s good that people my age (45) are jumping on the bandwagon as well.
