I have found as an instructor that if I want my students to use a particular tool I have to demonstrate it, make it available, show best uses, incorporate it into their workflow, and make use of it accountable. Trust me, if the wiki contributions were graded, you'd see content!

That is awesome! I'm disappointed too! And surprised - they are a school that is known for their technology.

I am disappointed to see that Drexel hasn't changed since I was there.

A co-worker of mine is in her first semester at Pitt's online program and she has a class where they are using blogs, social bookmarking, etc.

I just finished my first semester in the MLIS program at San Jose State University (SJSU) and in the fall I'm taking a class in Library and Web 2.0. Can't wait!

Nicole,

It's good that Dominican is allowing students to use Library 2.0 tools. Hopefully there are classes at Drexel that are going to avail me of these opportunities as well. I'm looking forward to taking INFO652. Designing a web site may be more Library 1.0 than 2.0 perhaps but it's still necessary.

Once people like you, who are trailblazers and knowledgeable about Library 2.0 and eventually 3.0, 4.0, etc., enter the academy, things will change. That's how the disconnect between what is available and what is being taught can be resolved.
