I have uploaded the screenshots for you all to see. They each have comments to explain what you’re looking at. View the show or the set.
I included shots of the blog, the wiki, the search engine, and noted some of the great features like – easily reporting problems to the web team – a menu that follows you everywhere, our shared calendar (powered by ExtCalendar 2) and more. If I have the time maybe I’ll go into detail on how I did things – if you’re curious – feel free to just ask

I would love for you to post some of the geekier details of your staff intranet… what you’re using (CMS? customer built? etc).
Very nicely done!
David

I guess you say it’s a CMS of my own design (not exactly like other CMS packages – but the same general idea) – I will gladly share with everyone
I wasn’t sure if I had the geeky type of audience I needed
hehe

pretty cool. Nah, go ahead and post details… not saying I’ll understand them but I’m sure someone will!!!
I now understand why my e-mails haven’t gotten a reply yet–you’ve been busy!
Man, undertaking TYI’s design and this at the same time… *shakes head* Are you crazy?
Is it just IE that’s showing a humongous amount of space between the title and text of this post?
Oh, and this is now my … sixth? time trying to comment with this. *sigh*
I hate your auto-generated pictures. Seriously.
And does it have to be numbers AND letters? O or 0? l or I? *mutters angrily*
Maybe it just hates me?

Thanks for sharing the screenshots. I’ve been hired as a webmaster of a firm, and am an experienced web designer – but have come to find out they previously had two web developers that build a lot of tool but there’s no cohesiveness at all. I’m charged with revamping the whole thing…I would LOVE to hear details of how you went about your project, the timeframe and who worked on developing it and what their roles were (that is, if it wasn’t just you – was there a back-end and front-end person?). Thanks a bunch.
Btw, I am an architectural docent at the Koolhaas-designed central branch Seattle Public Library and can say from first-hand experience that librarians totally rock!

I would also love to hear more geeky details about what you did here. We are planning an overhaul to our library’s Intranet this year and yours looks fabulous!

I posted some details at: http://www.web2learning.net/archives/134 and I’ll gladly talk to anyone – but I have to be careful not to write the same things here that I’m writing for the article.

[...] On our new Intranet we allow the staff to pick up to 3 RSS feeds to be published right on their homepage. We used a PHP Class called LastRSS as our parser. We were able to customize it to pull URLs out our database and to make it display things the way we wanted. I know there are other options out there, but I haven’t tried them – yet. • • • [...]
[...] A lot of you expressed an interest in our Intranet redesign project when I posted about it in January – well you can soon read about it in ONLINE magazine. Marydee actually mentions it in a post on her blog – it’s a tiny mention – but it’s there. [...]
[...] It’s finally here! After talking up our Intranet here on my site (here, here, here, and here) and whenever I talked to people in person, the article is finally here. [...]
[...] David Lee King on January 4, 2006 Check out this nice-looking staff intranet – for a library. It’s very nicely done! Some features (from the flickr [...]
