Did Google Docs Change?

I noticed yesterday while trying to work with other Code4Libers on a document summarizing the Lightning Talks that the Save button had disappeared. Now this AM when I went to edit a personal document I only needed to make one small change and went to hit ‘Save & Close’ and had to wait for the auto-save before closing the document.

Google Docs Save

Has anyone else noticed this? Or seen documentation explaining why such an essential function has been removed?

Yup, I noticed it… hmmmm… Tuesday, I think. I miss my save and close button. :(

Yeah, confusion all around. I was really happy when I discovered the little disc-icon on the left on the menu bar. “Just like word!” :-/
But I do miss the old “save” and “save & Close” on the right:-)

That doesn’t make sense :( ’save’ is a function of every word processing program!!

Yes, it looks like it’s been exiled to the disk icon and separate ‘Save’ and ‘Close’ options on the file menu. Does anybody know if Google has a blog or feed for their updates to the Docs applications?

Yeah, I had the exact same reaction yesterday when I went to update my files. It was a strange and sudden change in my opinion. I also liked the save and close button.
At least the save icon is still around.
