Okay, I’m open for any suggestions. I have Akismet and SpamKarma installed on this blog. SpamKarma alone used to be enough and then I thought I’d add Akismet because SpamKarma wasn’t catching 100% of my spam (even though I have very strick settings on). I’m still getting about 3 comment spam posts getting through per day. Any other suggestions? I don’t want to have to turn on comment moderation – but I also don’t want these annoying posts coming up and ruining your experience – and mine.

A while back I was dealing with a flood of comment spam. I installed the Bad Behavior plugin for WordPress (http://www.bad-behavior.ioerror.us/) and have had real good results with that.
“Bad Behavior complements other link spam solutions by acting as a gatekeeper, preventing spammers from ever delivering their junk, and in many cases, from ever reading your site in the first place. This keeps your site’s load down, makes your site logs cleaner, and can help prevent denial of service conditions caused by spammers.”
I use that in addition to Akismet. With both of those running, Akismet catches the 3-5 spam comments that get through Bad Behavior, and I haven’t had any that get through both.

I don’t get a ton of comments on my blog, so I have it set to moderate any comments that are by new commenters. Once I’ve approved someone once their comments get through automatically. Otherwise I get an email with an “approve” “deny” link. Probably wouldn’t work with a lot of fast moving comment threads.
