That’s right, I’m here - I have had a shower and a lunch (or whatever meal it was) and now I’m ready to head down to some sessions before the end of the day. Unfortunately I’m suffering from a headache - probably party due to the screaming and kicking child that sat behind me [...]

Mis-spelled Auctions

I just read about Missing-Auctions on Library Stuff.
Every day thousands of items are listed on auction sites around the world containing spelling mistakes such as ‘comuter’, ‘coomputer’ or ‘c0mputer’ instead of ‘computer’. Because these items don’t appear in the regular search results less people bid on them so they sell for a lot less. … [...]

I didn’t get to attend this session, but I can keep up because Aaron Schmidt has put the presentation online.
The most confusing (and kind of useful) item - the USB heated gloves (on page 17) - at first I couldn’t figure out why I would have my laptop with me while out in the snow. [...]

More on Feed2JS

I am considering using Feed2JS on our intranet (after listening to Meredith & Paul at Internet Librarian) - I’m still going to give it a whirl, but I’ll be more cautious before I use it on any of our sites outside of the firewall after reading this warning from RSS4Lib.
If you run your own copy [...]

Social Cataloging Compared

librarytwopointzero has a comprehensive comparison of three social cataloging tools: Gurulib, LibraryThing, and Shelfari.
The conclusion?
I think you can see that Librarything is my favourite. I think, in comparison to the other two, Librarything really gives you that extra.

In her Cool Tools presentation at IL2006 Darlene Fichter mentioned Digital Life Aggregators - I haven’t been able to find any of these (mind you I’m not searching very hard) but today I read on TipMonkies about Profilactic.com.
Profilactic can keep track of any social site which provides RSS feeds or unique web addresses to its [...]

If you’re still unsure of what RSS Aggregator to use, you might want to give CNET’s comparison chart & reviews a look. They offer a comparison chart for Bloglines, Rojo, Google Reader, FeedDemon, and Newsgator Inbox 2.6 for Outlook.
