With the new fancy e-book readers out it’s hard to resist the urge to buy one! I was chatting with a woman at an SLA event last night about the future of books. She told me that her kids (25 and younger) did not read. She had read to them their entire [...]

Back when I started here at the Seminary I decided to catalog my blog as an exercise in cataloging a serial. “But why a serial?” you may ask. I recently got an email to this affect and sent it on to Chris Schwartz, my cataloging mentor here, and here was her answer:
Here’s how [...]

Found via Stephen’s Lighthouse:
I grew up turning in my homework assignments online and using online chat rooms as study groups with fellow classmates. And it worked for me. It worked real well. I love the Internet, online communication and Facebook because these technologies allow me to do what I do best: multitask. Since I've [...]

When I started at Jenkins ages ago, I had this program on my computer called SnagIt - and had no idea what it was so I said I didn’t need it. Now I know what it does and it might actually be as handy as Snapper. Thanks to Lifehacker I just found out [...]

Colored Labels in Gmail

Nothing really fancy here - but I was a bit confused this morning - something looked different in my email. Looks like Google is using colored labels (like they let me do with my Google Calendar).
This is just one of those fun little features that makes things pretty - and can be useful for [...]

Last night I attended a talk at Princeton title Stop Making Sense: On Collecting, Sorting and Presenting Data presented by Rudolf Frieling, Curator of Media Arts at SFMOMA, San Francisco. I have to start by saying that the artsy parts lost me! Frieling would show and art piece and say - of course [...]

What an amazing idea! David Lee King posts about an addition to his library catalog. When patrons can’t find what they’re searching for they’re prompted with a meebo chat box to ask a librarian for help! Check out the picture on Flickr.
