Free Audio Books

December 16th, 2005

How did I miss this? I was just reading on Wired about LibriVox. What a cool idea!

LibriVox volunteers record chapters of books in the public domain, and then we release the audio files back onto the net (podcast and catalog). Our objective is to make all books in the public domain available, for free, in audio format on the internet.

There’s not much there yet, but if you’re good at reading out loud you should totally volunteer! I’m fine a speaking when there is no script – but when I try to read outloud I do a terrible job :)

Yahoo Widgets

December 16th, 2005

The other day I turned on my PC and Konfabulator told me I had to upgrade to Yahoo! Widgets. I followed the instructions and downloaded the new release … I have been way to busy to browse for new Widgets, but I have noticed that Yahoo! Widgets isn’t opening up when I start Windows – like Konfabulator was … and that my handy PHP.net Search widget isn’t supported anymore … I can still use it – but at my own risk. Oh well, guess we’ll just have to wait and see how this new release works out for me.

Online Pet Community

December 12th, 2005

Why does this site look so familiar?

Fuzzster is apparently a new site “where our fuzzy pets can meet other fuzzy pets and owners”. It’s a cute idea and I love looking at fuzzly little pets (like my Coda Bear) … but this site looks just like another pet site I stumbled upon recently. Do you know what I’m talking about??

RSS in the Loo

December 11th, 2005

This new invention will be a great help to those of us who can’t keep up with our RSS feeds … the rsstroom reader is:

a bathroom gadget that prints news feeds onto your T-P – that’s right, your TOILET PAPER! The best part is the “biometrics” toilet seat that’ll figure out who you are based on your weight and prints the news you want – not your roommates tabloid garbage.

LOL! This is too funny! And very professionally done, there is even a Press Release for you to read.

A bit of beta fun

November 17th, 2005

At IL05 Steven Cohen commented on how everything is in Beta, well check out this new Beta product: GoogleGulp.

At Google our mission is to organize the world's information and make it useful and accessible to our users. But any piece of information's usefulness derives, to a depressing degree, from the cognitive ability of the user who's using it. That's why we're pleased to announce Google Gulp (BETA)™ with Auto-Drink™ (LIMITED RELEASE), a line of “smart drinks” designed to maximize your surfing efficiency by making you more intelligent, and less thirsty.

Too funny!
